Satrundi checkpost

The ride down from the top of the pass to the police checkpoint at Satrundi is about 10 kilometres and is mad it seems you are only riding on rocks the whole time. Thin ones, thick ones, pointy ones, blunt ones, round ones, flat ones, big ones, small ones you name it and its in your path.
At the checkpoint you have to enter your details and the cops manning the post take a video camera and take a small snippet of you and your bike.

    That is a good account of the ride down sach pass. I believe the readers will also gain some insight as to why the checkpost exists and more importantly why police videograph the travellers crossing this point. The reason is a terrorist attack that occurred near this checkpoint in 1998. This area borders Jammu and it is said that terrorists crossed over from Kishtwar and massacred 35 people in Chamba out of which 11 were killed in Satrundi alone. And the police patrols this area ever since.
